\t\t\tI have been pushing the Council to take action in relation to the
\nMillennium Park in Baldoyle which is supposed to be provided as part of
\nthe housing development in Stapolin. n response to a motion of mine at the area committee meeting, the
\nParks Department have reported that they are to initiate public
\nconsultation in relation to the design of the Millennium Park in
\nBaldoyle. Within a month or so they will invite public submissions about the
\ndesign of the park. After these are considered, a draft design
\nwill be drawn up and put on public display.<\/p>\n

\nMotion: Councillor D. Healy
\n“That the Manager bring forward plans for a consultation and design
\nprocess with the local community and with community and sporting
\norganisation in order to prepare for the drawing up of plans for the
\nprovision of the Millennium Park in Baldoyle.”<\/p>\n
Report:
\nIt was stated in the Baldoyle Portmarnock Action Area Plan that ‘The
\ndesign and layout of the parkland shall be subject to consultation with
\nthe Council, Baldoyle Residents Association and other relevant
\nassociations and local clubs prior to the submission of a planning
\napplication’. <\/p>\n
To date the Planning Department has received planning permission for
\nphases 1 and 2 and has required by condition the provision of 9
\nhectares of parkland on the southern boundary to the rear of Admiral
\nPark to be set out and developed as playing pitches. The details
\nof these works have been agreed and work is well in progress and
\nexpected to be handed over in early Autumn 2006. In discussion
\nwith Planning and Parks Departments, an additional 9 hectares is also
\nto be provided as playing pitches over and above the planning
\nrequirement. <\/p>\n
The design of the remainder of the park is currently subject of
\ndiscussions between the Developer and the Council. There are also
\nan extensive section of ecologically sensitive lands which will require
\nvery sensitive planning and design and also will need to be fully
\ncompliant with the requirements of the Department of the Marine,
\nEnvironment and the Wildlife service. <\/p>\n
The Council are shortly to invite the public to make submissions
\nregarding the design of the park. Following consideration of the
\nsubmissions and consultation with interested parties, a draft plan will
\nbe prepared for the park and put on display for a month, pursuant to
