{"id":65,"date":"2005-10-17T22:00:50","date_gmt":"2005-10-17T22:00:50","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","slug":"Motion_on_water_use_defeated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/davidhealy.com\/?p=65","title":{"rendered":"Motion on water use defeated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>{mosimage}A second motion in relation to the Cappagh Local area plan in relation<br \/>\nto reducing water use in the plan was defeated.&nbsp; This was stated<br \/>\nto be because the content of the motion is already covered in the<br \/>\nDevelopment Plan.&nbsp; In fact the motion is a more specific<br \/>\ncommitment with greater details than the Development Plan.&nbsp; The<br \/>\nreal reason seemed to be an unwillingness to follow a lead from the<br \/>\nGreen Party, which was the only party to submit any motions in relation<br \/>\nto the local area plan.&nbsp; It was interesting to note that some<br \/>\ncouncillors were visibly annoyed that the Greens had gotten their first<br \/>\nmotion agreed&nbsp; and spoke at length to tell us we were wasting<br \/>\ntime.&nbsp; Others were determined to bring their party colleagues into<br \/>\nline and succeeded.&nbsp; Even more interesting was to see some Council<br \/>\nofficials leave the room to gather in a few missing councillors from<br \/>\ntheir offices behind the Council chamber.&nbsp; The result was that the<br \/>\nmotion was defeated.&nbsp; The text of the motion is below.&nbsp; When<br \/>\nthe report (supplied on paper at the meeting) is circulated, I will<br \/>\nattach it also.
