Failure to place bins on beaches a disgrace – Healy

Green Party Councillor for Howth David Healy has condemned Fingal
County Council’s failure to operate a cleaning service over the bank
holiday weekend.
Cllr Healy said: “Council officials had assured councillors in recent weeks that basic services would be maintained, despite a ban on temporary staff over the summer. However, there was no cleaning service over the weekend and the failure to place bins on Burrow Beach in Sutton and on Portmarnock Beach is an absolute disgrace.

“Fingal County Council must ensure that a basic cleaning service is in place for next weekend, particularly if the spell of good weather continues. Litter wardens should also be in place, as a deterrent to those who don’t clean up after themselves.”
